Amy Winehouse (14th September 1983 – 23rd July 2011) was a British singer/songwriter best known for her exceptional vocal talent, eclectic mix of musical genres and unique appearance. Often in the public eye for the wrong reasons, she still managed to amass a worldwide fanbase including fellow musicians such as U2, Bob Dylan, Lady Gaga, Marianne Faithfull and George Michael. Amy’s 2006 album ‘Back to Black’ was by far her most successful and led to her winning five 2008 Grammy Awards – at the time, the most won by a female artist in a single night. After her untimely death in 2011, the album posthumously became the UK’s best-selling album of the 21st century. As of 2019, it is still in second place to Adele's '21'.
